General Meeting Notice – February 2019

The  Portarlington Community Association (PCA) invites members and guests to attend our first general meeting for 2019.
When: Wed 6 February, 7.00 – 8.30pm
Where: Bayview Room, Parks Hall, Newcombe St, Portarlington
Topics: 1) Planning issues – Protecting the Bellarine and 2) Local health services – BCH.

The State Government has undertaken to declare the Bellarine a “Distinctive Area and Landscape” under the Planning and Environment Act 1987. This would trigger a requirement to set permanent height controls and town boundaries. Any changes would have to be agreed by Parliament. This is a very significant development for our community.

The PCA has arranged for Mr Kim McGough, Barwon Region General Manager with the DELWP (Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning) to address our general meeting to explain the move and discuss how our community can make input – both to it and subsequent planning decisions made under the new arrangements.

The meeting will also hear from Shane Dawson, CEO of Bellarine Community Health (BCH) about some exciting new initiatives they are planning for our town.

In 2019 the PCA will be holding general meetings every two months. Add these dates to your calendar: Wed 3 April, Wed 5 June, Wed 7 August, Wed 2 October  and Wed 4 December.
