North Bellarine Pool
The Drysdale Regional Sports Precinct has been declared the site for the construction of the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre which will incorporate a new 50-metre outdoor heated pool (Stage 1).
Many community groups including the North Bellarine Aquatic Advocacy Group, expressed concerns that there was no shade or shelter for the outdoor pool.
The City of Greater Geelong is currently advertising for tenders from interested construction entities with a closing date of 15 October 2021. Construction is expected to commence in early 2022.
Work has also commenced on concept plans for Stage 2 which will incorporate a 50-metre indoor heated pool with areas for other uses such as allied health services and community functions.
In early October 2021, the Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Catherine King, announced a pre-selection commitment of $20 million if Labor is elected at the next Federal election. The pre-selection commitment will fund a 50-metre indoor pool with areas for other uses such as allied health services and community functions.
