Submission to the Advisory Committee – 49 Newcombe Street Proposed Development

Following the decision of the Planning Minister to “call in” the VCAT appeal by the developers against the failure of the City of Greater Geelong to grant a permit for a multi-level apartment and retail complex next to the kindergarten in Newcombe Street, an Advisory Committee conducted a Hearing from 30 August to 2 September 2021.  The PCA opposes the issue of a permit and was present throughout the Hearing.  The PCA was represented by the law firm, Harwood Andrews, on a pro-bono basis.

The Advisory Committee will now provide a report and recommendation to the Minister within 30 working days.  The Government will then subsequently make a decision on that.  However, the PCA has not been advised of the timetable as yet.
